The Perception of the Right to Intimacy Among Girls of the 2000s Generation in Yazd City: A Qualitative Exploration

Abstract
Social and cultural changes have significantly impacted the family dynamic. Concurrently, there appears to be a reevaluation of the relationships, rights, and expectations between parents and children. The purpose of this research is to explore the perceptions and interpretations of girls born in the 2000s regarding family rights and expectations. This qualitative study was conducted in Yazd in 2024. Following the data saturation criterion, the research included 30 girls from the 2000s who were purposefully selected as participants. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicated that the participating groups hold varying rights and expectations within the family, many of which are not recognized by numerous contributors. One of the most significant emphases expressed by the participants was the right to intimacy, particularly in their interactions with their fathers. The analyzed themes include contingent devotion, unidimensional fatherhood, material idolatry, the post-traditional trap, and emotional disconnection. The final theme of the research is intimate and multifaceted parenting.
