Abstract

Even though women’s participation is a needed factor of development, Share of Iranian women in economic activities and political decision making is significantly low. The important question in this regard is what are the factors and barriers in both micro and macro levels which have caused the permanent gender inequality in Iran? Based on social development theory by Chalaby and available official statistical data, in micro level, gender socialization, gender spaces, type of female social network, difficulties in women mobility (physical, occupational, accommodational), restriction of social opportunities (opportunities in education, occupation, associational relationships), and lack of strategic consensus of  elites are barriers of development and progress of women’s character advancement. In macro level disorders in normative and symbolic dimensions of social structure do not provide the context for women’s participation in development process.

Abstract

Today, the issue of sexual harassment of women in the workplace is seen in different ways and in most countries with different degrees. It seems that middle management women in organizations are sexually harassed in a different way than low-level women because they have broken the glass ceiling and caused changes in the distribution of organizational power. In this regard, in this research, an attempt was made to obtain a detailed account of the experiences of sexual harassment of middle manager women after promotion and its relationship with the change in the organizational power structure. In order to achieve this goal, an in-depth interview was conducted with 15 female middle managers in production organizations under the ministry of privacy in a phenomenological (descriptive) manner and the experiences of these women with a view to the theories of socialization, gender inequality, sexual harassment and power was analyzed. The results of this research show that organizations through things such as the concealment of male managers in the presence of some facilities for managers, creating a work environment and office different from male managers, interference in administrative affairs from other colleagues and preventing the presence of women in the network Managers of the same rank try to maintain the previous power structure. Also, women middle managers face different forms of sexual harassment. Among them: the irony of hearing from other men and women about how to become a manager, less overt sexual harassment, and more inability to protest sexual harassment.

Abstract

The role of women in development has been a focus in the six economic and social development plans implemented after the Islamic Revolution. Official reports indicate significant improvements in women's health and education, but there are still challenges in economic and political participation.
This study critically evaluates women’s development in national plans. It involves 18 experts and professionals experienced in planning for women, using in-depth interviews and interpretive phenomenological analysis. The analysis identified 55 concepts, 10 sub-categories, and three main categories: "fundamental and conceptual challenges," "planning and implementation challenges," and "screening, monitoring, and efficiency challenges".
The findings reveal that a shared understanding of fundamental concepts is a key challenge. Additionally, changes in government and political competition disrupt plan implementation. Furthermore, ineffective representation of implemented programs and political competition hinder clear understanding of the plans' effectiveness among all women in society.
