در ایران، با وجود مشروعیت قانونی تطبیق جنسیت، افراد ترنس همچنان با محدودیت‌های فرهنگی، اجتماعی و ساختاری مواجه‌اند. آنان حتی پس از تغییر جنسیت نیز فشارهای روانی، تبعیض و محدودیت‌های هنجاری را تجربه می‌کنند. هویت جنسی در این شرایط به مؤلفه‌ای محوری در تجربۀ اجتماعی آن‌ها بدل شده و روابط بین‌فردی و اجتماعی‌شان به‌شدت تحت تأثیر ارزش‌ها و هنجارهای فرهنگی قرار دارد. این پژوهش در سال ۱۴۰۳ با هدف بررسی پدیدارشناسانۀ تعاملات اجتماعی افراد ترنس در شهر تهران انجام شد. روش تحقیق کیفی و مبتنی بر رویکرد پدیدارشناسی تفسیری بود. داده‌ها از طریق مصاحبه‌های عمیق فردی گردآوری شد و پس از انجام ۲۳ مصاحبه و رسیدن به اشباع نظری، با استفاده از روش کولایزی تحلیل شدند. یافته‌ها نشان داد که مقولاتی همچون «تحریف احساس»، «ستیز با عرف»، «اخفای نقش»، «خودفرودست‌انگاری» و «هویت‌سازی کاذب» در تجربه‌های زیستۀ مشارکت‌کنندگان نقش برجسته‌ای ایفا می‌کنند و بر تعاملات روزمره آنان اثر قابل‌توجهی دارند. به‌طور کلی، نتایج حاکی از آن است که تعاملات اجتماعی افراد ترنس در تهران دارای الگوهای چندلایه و متنوعی است که همزمان محدودیت‌ها، سازوکارهای انطباق و بازنمایی‌های مختلف هویت را دربرمی‌گیرد. تحلیل این الگوها نشان می‌دهد که درک وضعیت افراد ترنس در چارچوب بسترهای فرهنگی، ساختاری و هنجاری جامعۀ ایران با استفاده از سیاست‌گذاری در آموزش‌های عمومی می‌تواند بخش زیادی از مسائل و مشکلات این افراد را مرتفع سازد.
