این مطالعه بر آن است؛ با رویکرد آینده ­پژوهی به شناسایی پیشران­ های کلیدی مؤثر بر وضعیت آیندۀ بیماری­ های واگیردار که برآمده از سرمایۀ اجتماعی در شهرهای ایران با مطالعۀ موردی شهر نورآباد بپردازد. پژوهش حاضر از نظر هدف، کاربردی، از حیث روش ­پیمایشی در سطح اکتشافی و مبتنی بر رویکرد آینده‌پژوهی صورت گرفته ­است. نیروهای پیشران با روش ­دلفی مشخص شده، سپس این عوامل براساس میزان اهمیت و عدم ­قطعیت، اولویت­بندی­ و حیاتی‌ترین عوامل مشخص و برای تحلیل داده ­ها از نرم ­افزار  (Mic Mac) استفاده شده است.  در میان این عوامل با استفاده از این نرم افزار 10 عامل به مثابه عوامل کلیدی، انتخاب شدند و مبنای تدوین سناریوها قرار گرفتند. یافته­ های پژوهش حاکی از آن است؛ از بین این متغیرها، نابرابری، فرهنگ معاشرت، اعتماداجتماعی، آگاهی اجتماعی، تورم، بی ­تفاوتی نسب به وضعیت موجود، مهاجرت روستاییان، عادی­ انگاری، توزیع نامناسب درآمد، ضعف کیفیت محیط زیست شهری به عنوان عوامل کلیدی مؤثر بر سرمایۀ اجتماعی و  دارای بیشترین اثرگذاری مستقیم و همچنین دارای بیشترین میزان اثرگذاری غیرمستقیم بر دیگر متغیرها بوده ­­اند که توسط کارشناسان مشخص شده و در شیوع بیماری­های واگیردار در آیندۀ این شهر مؤثر بوده ­اند. سپس براساس دو معیار «شدت عدم قطعیت» و « میزان اهمیت « سه سناریو برای سه آیندۀ محتمل شهر نورآباد فارس، شناسایی و تدوین شد. در نهایت با توجه به وضعیت شهر نورآباد و متناسب با این پیش ران­ها، پیشنهادهایی در بهبود وضعیت سرمایۀ اجتماعی ارائه شده است.
